2022 Carter Con Expo & Operator Challenge
Draws More Than 800 Attendees

Carter Con Expo & Operator Challenge was a big success July 20 with more than 800 attendees passing through the gates at Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Va.  This is Carter Machinery’s premier event to showcase the latest Cat® equipment, attachments, and technology, as well as other products and Carter’s extensive parts, service, and rental offerings.

Attendees learned about equipment through live demos and displays of next-generation Cat machines, rental equipment, and industry-related technology, and talked with 200-plus industry experts from Carter Machinery, Caterpillar, SITECH, and other partners and sponsors about equipment solutions.

Carter Con’s highlight was the Cat Global Operator Challenge that saw 108 contestants demonstrate their skills as machine operators behind the controls of Cat’s latest products. Operators competed in events to test their agility, speed, and accuracy – including “The Load & Go” while operating a Medium Wheel Loader, the “Stay On Track” obstacle course using a Compact Track Loader, and “The Big Dig” while trenching with a Medium Excavator. The overall winner received $1,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to the Regional Operator Challenge Finals in Clayton, NC, October 17-19.

  • Overall Operator Challenge Winner – Daniel Worley, BladePro Grading & Excavation
  • Medium Wheel Loader Operator Challenge Winner (tie) – Daniel Worley, BladePro Grading & Excavation, and Mike Stinespring, Stinespring Excavating
  • Compact Track Loader Operator Challenge Winner – Jay Barden, Jay S Barden Excavation
  • Medium Excavator Operator Challenge Winner – Mike Stinespring, Stinespring Excavating

In addition, every company with an operator participating in the Operator Challenge was entered into a random drawing to win $10,000 in Carter Credit for their company, with American Excavating chosen as the winner. Village Building Company won the Traeger Pro Series 575 grill in the random drawing for the pre-registration giveaway.

The family- and kid-friendly event was open to the public, and lunch, beverages, Dippin’ Dots, and face painting were provided. All attendees received a free swag bag, and door prizes were given away throughout the day, including koozies, tumblers, cornhole boards, Cat coolers, diecast models, and more. A special “thank you” goes out to Carter Con’s numerous sponsors, including:
